Base jumping is a kind of parachuting
Today, parachuting has a number of modifications and variations. One of the fastest growing and most popular subspecies of parachuting is base jumping. It differs from simple parachuting in that the jumps are made from stationary objects.
BASE jumpers or BASERS deservedly consider their sport the most dangerous and extreme in the world. Due to the short duration of the jump (<1 minute), the baysers do not have a reserve parachute, as it simply does not have time to open in time. The lower in height the object from which the jump is made, the, of course, the jump made from it is considered to be more dangerous for life. The height of objects ranges from an average of forty to a thousand meters. The free fall of the baser lasts from two to ten seconds, then you need to open the parachute in time.
BASE is the abbreviation of the English names of the four standard objects from which jumps are made: building, antennas (antenna), bridges (span bridge), mountains and rocks (earth). Actually, it is from these objects, as a rule, base jumpers that carry out their disarming and breathtaking jumps, from which they take their breath away and leave their hearts in their heels.
The equipment of base jumpers is significantly different from the usual parachute, where there are a lot of auxiliary devices and a reserve parachute. Everything is much simpler here, usually it only includes one parachute and the accumulated experience and skill of an athlete-skydiver. Nowadays, base jumpers’ equipment can protect even jumps from small heights not exceeding thirty to sixty meters.
As with ordinary paratroopers, base jumpers have very strict and strict rules for parachuting and the conditions under which a place to land is chosen. But, unlike simple parachuting, here these rules are not laws, but a self-conscious safety measure, since it depends on them whether the athlete remains alive or not. High-quality and correctly laid parachute slings are the key to a successful jump and landing, because the base jumper needs to calculate the time required to open the parachute up to milliseconds. For safety and comfortable flight of the baseball jumper, such characteristics of the parachute lines as thickness, strength, resistance to stretching and moisture are important. Reliable equipment and experience is life!
